 Questions....
« Thread Started on Oct 30, 2009, 6:36pm »

Not sure where to put this... so I'll put it here. I have few questions.

1.) I am most of the time when I sing that I'm singing off key, when I play the melody on the piano and sing along with it, I can sing on key, but otherwise I can't. How do I know if I'm on key?

2.) When I record myself and liston, I sound nasely and really bad. I don't know what exactly to call it, but my tone is really awful, and not clear or sharp like it's suppose to be... What am I doing wrong, and What can I do to fix this problem? ???

Thanks,
Ripples

I will attempt to answer the questions the best I can...

1) sometimes having an instrument to sing along with will put you back on key because there is more to go off of. Just keep practicing and you will be able to sing on key without it. Start off by doing the whole song, singing along. Then, do 3/4 of song on piano and sing, for the last 1/4 sing without piano. Then do 1/2 sound with piano and singing, then last half just singing. and so on...this should give you the practice needed.

2) First question, how are you recording yourself? I found this problem too. When I recorded myself on my phone, i sounded terrible. on a recording device, terrible (it was a cheap one) on my computer, It sounded better. It could be what your singing on that changes it or how close you are to the microphone. try different methods of recording yourself. get one of your friends to listen to you too.
