 Sore throat, dont know why
« Thread Started on May 11, 2005, 10:36am »

After singing I usually get a sore throat, but I really don't know why, because I think I breath correctly, and I always do warmups, so why is this happening? ???
Also if anyone has any tips or warmups which mite help make my voice stronger and louder, could you let me know please. Thank you very much!

I drink loads of water, seriously about 40 glasses a day, no joke.
And I sometimes feel tension when I hit certain notes but its mainly alright.

Hi, now when you sing high notes are you going louder or are staying at the same volume as your other singing?cause according to me if you go higher you must sing "louder" push more ( i think it's like if you wanna go fast in a car, you must putt it in a higher gear to go faster, you cant stay in 1st gear, and expect to see progress) lol.....ok i hope i did not confuse you lol.....

cheers bruce

i think going loud on high notes is not bad....are you a beginner to singing ? how long have you been singing?
Cause if you only started singing in the past month or so, then it's like a athlete....he trains 4 the 1st time then after trainging his legs is soar, but after 2 months or so he's legs is fit and used to the trainging....your vocal foldes are also just muscles that are "exercising" when you sing !!

That could very well be the answer. I have only been singing a couple of months, so yeah possibly. Thanks!
I have another question though, why does my voice sound much really good some days and then bad the next?

lol.......if i had the answer to that then i would help myself aswell....lol.....i think it's all about how much rest you gave your voice....if your vocal folds had a great rest then i geuss they would perform perfectly !!!

hi, what i have noticed after watching tons of idolz. is that they like originality....be yourself and dont be someone else, cause as soon as you are yourself that's when you perform better cause it is natural.!!

cheers BRUCE

Hey guys,
I don't really have time to write a complete response, but I do want to mention that pain in and around the larynx is never a good or "ok" thing! It usually indicates poor technique and could indicate damage is being done. Without hearing you, I couldn't say, but be careful!

You Should Not Be Singing Louder On The High Notes You Are Probally Straining Ur Voice. U Should Maintain Almost The Same Volume On The High And Low Notes. U Are Probally Yelling Or Belting Incorrectly, Make Sure Ur Not Singing From The Throat (Sing From Ur Diaphram).

to be really honest i think you must give more volume to go higher it's almost like a car you must give more petrol or gas to go faster you cant keep your pedal at the same angle, and hope that u would go faster !!!!

The one biggest thing i'd recommend is drinking lots of water. for any singer it is key to drink tons and tons of water. it may be natural for your throat to get sore especially if you dont drink enough water and if you are singing really loud.
